How To Use Bigen Semi-Permanent

Before Application

Read the instructions provided on the back label, pull up the tab on the bottom right hand side for more information. Always complete the 48-hour patch test before EACH USE to make sure you are not allergic to the product.

  1. Make sure to wear suitable gloves. Tip: If the gloves are too loose, use rubber bands to tighten them around your wrists.
  2. We recommend removing contact lenses before coloring your hair.
  3. Cover your shoulders with a towel or cape that you do not mind getting stained.
  4. Be sure your hair is clean and free of any product buildup. For this we recommend washing and drying your hair 24 hours before coloring.
  5. To prevent staining on your skin, apply cold cream around your ears, hairline, and the nape of your neck.
  6. Keep a damp paper towel close by. This is to help wipe skin if hair color gets on it.

Application

  1. With gloved hands, apply a generous amount of Bigen Semi Permanent Hair Color directly from the bottle to shampooed, towel dried hair. Tip: You can also use a non-metallic bowl and brush for application if you prefer.
  2. Comb through to ensure color is completely and evenly saturated.
  3. For Natural Hair: Place plastic cap over hair and process under a warm dryer for20 30 minutes , then allow to cool for 5 minutes.
For Relaxed Hair: Process for 25 minutes at room temperature only. Heat is not recommended for relaxed hair.
  4. Rinse hair until water runs clear. Do not shampoo. Tip: For extra moisturization, apply Bigen Moisture Plus Deep Conditioner as directed and rinse.
  5. Dry completely and style as usual. Note: Color may transfer if hair is wet. Be sure to completely dry hair before it comes into contact with clothing or pillows.

Color will fade gradually with each shampoo. Use gentle color safe shampoo such as the Bigen Colorshield Hair Care Series for longer-lasting results.

What are the differences between Bigen Powder and Bigen Semi-Permanent Color?

Both products are deposit-only hair colors. However, Bigen’s Permanent Powder Hair Color lasts much longer than the other due to differences in coloring mechanism.

Bigen Permanent Powder is an oxidative dye that deposits color your hair to last at least 20 shampoos. It contains a low level of peroxide to become activated when mixed with water, to ensure that the colorants penetrate the hair without lifting (lightening) away your natural pigments to remain gentle to the hair. Since it will cover both outside of the cuticle as well as bit into the cortex, the product lasts as long as most permanent hair dye products, but with much less damage to the hair.

Semi-Permanent Hair Colors, including Bigen’s, is even less invasive. They usually don’t contain any peroxide, and simply coat the hair. The benefit of this type of product is that it doesn't add more damage to the hair, and can be used over relaxed or bleached hair, even on the same day. The trade-off compared to the Bigen Permanent Powder, is that it will wash off with each shampoo. While specific counts may vary per shade and condition of hair, on average it will maintain colors for about 8 shampoos.

Is a patch test necessary before use?

Yes. Conduct a skin allergy test 48 hours before each use: Apply a small amount of product to inside of the elbow. If during 48 hours you don't notice any signs of burning, swelling, redness or irritation, you can use this product.

Hair Colorants can cause allergic reactions which in rare cases can be severe. Do not use if you already had a reaction to a hair color product. If you experience any skin abnormalities during or after coloring, discontinue use and seek medical help.

Blue black semi permanent

I tried the blue black dye to tone my blonde hair and my hair turned green ! I’m going to try the iced mocha over it today, to try and get the green out… because it’s been there for months even after bleaching it 3x on different occasions ! For some reason the green will not come out ! So I’m just going to dye it brown ! However it’s not a toner but a dye ….so I did use the product wrong ! it may work for other people !

Disappointed in bigen semi permanent hair dye

Looking at the reviews here about Bigens liquid hair dye and saw a comment by Rosie on march 03,23. She commented the dye was supposed to cover her grey and didn’t. I had the same problem. I dyed mine and my grey wasn’t covered. I tried to dye again out of same bottle a week later. Same result. I won’t buy bigen anymore. I’m willing to buy a product similar priced or a little higher priced to get what I pay for. Like Maribel commented on dec 26, 22 I am very disappointed in the bigen product.
